Having been a lover of The Sound of Music
It was fascinating to hear the truth of the Von Trapp's
This is in fact how they left Austria...
On a train to Italy from this station !!
The Castle overlooking Salzburg is very imposing.
Once again I love the architecture.
This is the smallest house in Salzburg..
A young man asked the father of his love if he could marry her.
He said no you don't even have a house!
This was the smallest block left in town so he bought it & built "a house"
They were then married !!
The birth place of Salzburg's favourite son..
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
All this European food is killing us !!!
So we snuck off and found a
Curry....
After lunch we made our way to the lookout at the "other Fort"
Rugged up as you can see!
The panorama of the old town was spectacular..
Thats another snow front coming....brrr.
Gorgeous isn't it ?
Back into town we saw this Cool Dude
He was actually green & covered in leaves !
Then into the Catacombs...
Note the fellow on the left.
These were the inspiration for the scene of the "Escape"
not what we were expecting!
A piece of modern art in the main square.
Note the date on this building!
A very old city!
The Love Locks are doing better here than on the Chain Bridge
in Budapest...
These are the statues from the movie.
And this will be the
Sound of Music Museum
in the not to distant future...
