I had found an article in a 1997 BMW Car magazine
describing a drive through a wee bit of Scotland.
So I sent it to Alex...."It's one of my favourite bits" he said.
So after a drive down to see his yacht, photograph
this tower, off we went.
When Alex, Kelly & Freya were over he said he wanted to
see Applecross, because the Applecross Pass was great.
Below is the sign to .....
At the bottom the sign said;
This road rises to a height os 2053 ft.
With gradients of 1 in 5 and hairpin bends.
Not advised for Learner Drivers,
Very Large Vehicles or
Caravans after first mile !!!!
That pretty much describes it...
Think one lane Stelvio Pass with passing points.
I got out to take this and heard a Banshee
coming up the hill , then another !!!
So I pulled over and let them pass.
When we got to the top .
Wouldn't you???
Then 10 more stormed in...
Fantastic but Freezing.
The Cairn at the top.
The boys and their toys...
Lucky Bastards.
In a diesel Passat it is one of the best drives I've
had in 45 years of driving......
how good would it have been solo in any one of these?
Down the other side to Applecross
for a beaut pub lunch.
Can you see the Submarine ?
Then Kelly & Freya turned up, had a late bight
and off we went for the rest of the drive back.
We encountered a wee bit of "wildlife" on the road.
I love these guys!!
she was a bit curious.
In her element.
More of this spectacular road...
but along the coast.
Also this was on the road.
A lovely Hind.
What a day !!!
