Around Windermere

Well it's Motor Museum time
The Lakeland Motor Museum
was our first port of call.
A fabulous collection of motoring history.

 Donald Campbell's Bentley
repainted Bluebird Blue.

Double click to blow it up.

As a kid Donald Campbell was one of my heroes,
I was 14 and a bit when he died..
one of my favourite toys was my model of Bluebird.
Below is part of his boat he died in.

This tickled my fancy being a speed freak.
It would have been an awesome race car.
Double click if your interested.

Wild looking piece of kit.

A nice Citroen L 15

TVR's second car!!!
Pretty much a clubman.

Double click..

These are such cuties.

Then would you believe an 8 mile
Mini Cooper.
Awesome.

Now it would be a John Cooper Works!!!
I sold one of the new ones for $72k
would you believe.
Probably the dearest JCW sold in Australia at the time...
I bet this is worth a lot more.

A Police MGA,
they had to catch the villains!
Notice the siren.

Look at this then blow up and read the one below it !

Alison about to check out this Classic Van.

Leadlight Windows.

Gold fabric et al ...

Then down the back roads to Coniston
we saw what looked like Shark Fins topping the fence.
These aren't shaped to match like fins we saw earlier.

Below Donald Campbell's memorial..

Then his Headstone.
Complete with Bluebird.

Then this tickled my funny bone,
at the entrance to the Cemetery.

Now we had done two of my "things"
So it was Alison's turn.
This is Hilltop.
Beatrix Potter's home, just as she left it.
Guess what..No Photos
and a guard in every room...
Damn you National Trust!!!

Assume the pose !

Then this is the gate to McGregor's
Garden in Peter Rabbit , apparently !

From there down into Near Sawrey
part of the Village where she lived.

This tickled both our fancy,
check out the date.

Then to Wray Castle.
Hang on this is the Gate House...

This is the Castle...
once again Spectacular!!!

Tomorrow ???

So the motor museum you went to, is that the one that has Bluebird on display. Saw one on Car SOS ONE that had Bluebird and heaps of other awesome stuff.
I just wanna go there some time soon.
