York Peninsula Part One

On to the Yorke Peninsular.
We had always had to miss this Peninsular on our previous trips ...
so when the opportunity arose for us to do a week in the area we grabbed it...
Now the weather has really changed so to get any sunshine is a bonus!!

We had been recommended Black Point by two fellow travelers..
we arrived at a King tide time at this picturesque site.

Situated on the east coast , we have investigated the area.
As usual we manage to find some interesting things.
Here are some Vintage and Classic cars with matching Caravans...

Dodge Phoenix.

Was this a Dodge or a Valiant VF in disguise?

Cute old DeSoto and the van was names Minibago!!

Chrysler 300F towed by a Dodge Ram Prospector...
he appeared to have come from W A.

Up OneSteel Look out.
The huge silo is at Ardrossan.

The Dolomite Mine which produces 900,000 tonnes a year,
to be used mainly in the manufacturing of steel.

Red cliffs of Ardrossan...
with those clouds, it was time to run back to Toby!!

Sunset back at the site, you can just see Turtle!!

Dawn again....let me sleep!!!!

Next morning we headed to Maitland and to the Barley Stacks Winery.
Really interesting and unusual wines.
On the way out we just missed this big bug ger!!

On the way in we had spied a large number of birds of prey...
so on the way out we tried to capture some of them.

There were a pair of Black Shouldered Kites...

....that appeared to be playing in the sky...

...well in fact they were searching the newly harvested pastures for mice...
got one!!!

Then on to Minlaton, home of Harry Butlers, Red Devil.

This is particularly interesting to us Sandgropers..
double click and read.

Is this three generations of the Red Devil,
Grand Father, Father, Son????!!
