Hellyer Gorge

Hellyer Gorge

We had driven past a beaut free camp on the way to Boat Harbour Beach & decided to spend the night there on the way back towards Gowrie Park.

On arrival we did the small walk down to the river, then the longer one through the forrest.

This was truly a revelation.....

Alison walked in front of me as "spotter"

We have never seen such an incredible variety of Fungus anywhere let alone in one place!

Unfortunately I didn't have my macro lens or tripod.

But I'm pretty happy with the results!

Simply mind blowing...

And mighty trees to boot.

On the side of the road Alison spotted this young Echidna..

Pee Boo!!

Alison has been painting birds on this trip, so we may yet see this little guy in watercolour.

He was just beside me at the table...bold as you like.

As today is Alison's birthday and I had tried to catch a fish after getting back from the walk (unsuccesfully)
I thought I'd try and catch "Birthday Breakkie"

Alison was entrusted with the camera and spied these "Beautifuls"
Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos in a tree just outside the camp.

Yours Truly very excited...

A perfect little ( just size ) Rainbow Trout.... who became the starter for her Birthday Breakfast...
Happy Birthday my Love!!!!!!!
