Alison wasn't feeling well & her hips definitely couldn't have stood another 3 hour walk.
So off I choofed on my own to what I consider to be one
of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
As usual it was cold , misty & raining at times...
The scenery is truly spectacular and so are the smaller things that make up this most special of places.
I vaguely recall having this shot in the blog last time.....
More magical little "mushrooms"
The Northofagus Gunnii (Deciduous Beech) were just starting to turn.
Once again the colour of the water makes for a special scene.
The "Ballroom Forest" was dark & dingy but an 8 second exposure captured what I was after...
I had to wait 15 min. to get the boathouse without people climbing all over it !!!!
And then the clouds started to lift & blue sky !!!!!!!!!
As I was on my own I did the walk up to Waldheim Chalet
which was Gustav Weindorfer"s Home & Chalet
that eventually got this wonderful place recognized.
This is the view along the creek below the Chalet.
The present building is a reproduction of the original as it didn't stand the test of time...
There are great displays inside but I found this one fascinating....
read it as it mentions the Tasmanian Tigers !!!!!!
These were some of the "people" important to the history of Waldheim.
A replica of the "Bath House" where he would run freezing cold creek water in to the bath...
Then into Weindorfers Forest Walk..
An enchanted Forest if ever there was one....
One last look back to this gorgeous place
Then beside the road another Fungus for the collection.
I'm not sure who is the lucky bugger to live here
but it is closed off from the Ronny Creek car park.
And so ends a day in one of my favourite places in Australia.......
