Port Arthur

We had been to Port Arthur before and although the site is very interesting we decided to spend this trip doing the other sites of interest.

I had done the Remarkable Cave before with JJ but on this day, being a blustery day we were expecting a little more umph....not to be !!!!

Not a bad read if you have the time and the wish to know more...amazing rock formation.

We followed the road round, had a beaut lunch at the Lucky Duck in Nubeena then on to
Coal Mine Historic Site. This shot below is looking back towards Dunalley.

The old Coal Mine and surrounds have left some amazing stuff...very different to Port Arthur.
Here, you were put to use if you had previous mining experience...still horrific,
but not as bad as some of the things we had seen in Port Arthur.

The actual beach were they would send out the coal.

One of the solitary confinement cells...
got another one of these with Stephen's head just appearing in the dark.

The Main Shaft.

Back to the beach this time at Lime Bay, with it's own version of the painted cliff.
All in all, very different and I would imaging a not very travelled path by many to this area.
