The country around Atherton is beautiful, lush, green and stunning in a way that we have not seen before on our travels. When you see the picture above, which was right on the road, can you imagine how much more there is out there that we can not see...then we think of the drought areas, with their crops only growing a few inches high...it is heartbreaking!
Then just down the road again and we come across another, The Cathedral Fig Tree, awesome!! We were doing a drive around Lake Tinaroo which included a couple of lakes to one side, some possible future camping spots...and a dam....
and while walking around Lake Eacham, a snake, we think it is a Tree Snake...but this little bunny did not hang around to ask it!!!!
Lake Barrine was the next stop and a lovely lunch was had at the Tearooms with views across the lake and turtles sunning themselves.
And the Fig Tree again....to imagine the age of these incredible trees is mind blowing! These actually start out as a parasite high up in the tree, the roots grow to the ground & eventually strangle the host.
