After leaving the Tip, we did the return run to Weipa, then Stephen did a massive drive day and got us as far as a place called Lakelands. To say we were exhausted was an understatement and just to compound our day we had a busted fridge, which disgorged its gases into the van...very nasty...we did manage to clear the air before we went to sleep, and after a few calls in the morning we realised that we would have to go back to Cairns to get it fixed...but the parts would not be with us until the next Monday..so with that information at hand we set off to a small place called Julatten. This lazy little place is one of those idyllic places and a bird watchers paradise...it was called Kingfisher Lodge and just to prove it the Kingfisher sat in the sign for us and posed.
Some of our birds included this little beauty, the Grey Headed Robin...with one of the sweetest voices.
A night walk turned up this Bandicoot, a few Owls and Frogmouths.
The Honeyeaters where out in force but this one gave us a nice shot with he Grevillia in the back ground.
