New Zealand Part 16

Now the reason we went to Gisborne was a must do for Stephen that we had missed out on last time we were here. That is the Eastwoodhill Arboretum. 35k's west of Gisborne is this world renowned collection of exotic trees and shrubs in a rambling park setting.
This incredible place was the work of one individual with a passion for the trees of the world. It is not laid out like a botanical garden more as a walk through nature in its our rambling and topsy turvy way.
Stephen loves the bark on these Prunis Trees.
Check out the bugs!!!!!
Now with my hips and the thought of hours of walking ahead of me, I was grateful for the loan of this 4 wheel drive buggy...or gopher....I left Stephen for dead....oh the revenge!!!
We reckon this looks like a lichen Orangoutang!!
This is where we were when we heard about the Earthquake in Christchurch. To go from such peaceful surrounds back to our B & B and see the tragedy unfold, was horrific.
