New Zealand Part 14

By accident we landed in Napier for the Art Deco Weekend. Well what a hoot..would not have missed this for the world and if we ever get another opportunity we would go back in a blink of an eye.

For those that don't know (and we didn't), each year Napier has an Art Deco Week. The town had been devastated in 1931 by an earthquake and consequently had numerous buildings in the Art Deco style. This eventuated in a small group of people acknowledging this fact and before more could be raised to the ground, developing the idea for a tourist attraction. One thing led to another and it is now one of the largest tourist attractions in the area.

Check this out........

The statutes salute the era...
The posters show the dates...
The buildings show their colours....
And shine their portals great..
Stephen checked out the BMW's
And classic cars all around...
From old to new
Large ...
and small.
The bikes joined in the fun as well...
and costumes played their part...with glamour...
and the suave..
With air displays to join the fun...
and shows to add some style....you could not have a better time and all went home with a smile.
