Launceston

We had decided that Longford was a good base and changed our itenary accordingly....so instead of taking the vans to other destinations we toured around and came back to Longford. Being a rainy day we made the most of it and travelled to George Town and Low Head.

While on this section we had to find Sandra's Great-Great Grandfather's grave....my sort of mission!!! Found it...Windermere...the Church being St Matthais.

On to George Head and the Bass and Flinders Centre.....some of the best money spent here. Cheap and very interesting...

Some people sleep on the job!!!!

Now you may ask why this picture.....     ........    ........    don't know!!!!!! Maybe something to do with the painter being the daughter of one of the Archer brothers.

On towards Beaconsfield to Seahorse World. I had done this before so Richard, Sandra and Stephen checked it out..

The Ugly Fish...yep thats ugly..

While they were doing this I went to the Platypus House (sorry no pictures as they were difficult to photograph and also I can't get my iPhone to download the pictures to the computer). Anyway, they were cute and the Echidnas were fab with one running over my foot...

Do you remember the two miners that we stuck down the mine and rescued...well that is here at Beaconsfield.....unfortunately, the mine will shut in June this year.....maybe it will become another tourist attraction?

The rain stopped just long enough for us to take advantage of John's offer of using his outdoor area at the winery...just a cellar door......for a truly Tasmanian tasting plate. With pate and local cheeses all washed down with a drop of the house Merlot..Yummy!!!!!

Then back to Batmans Bridge for a last photo before heading back to Longford.
