Victor Harbour

With the weather conditions telling us that is was going to be hot, hot, hot..
we decided to move to the coast instead of the Barossa.
We ended up at Victor Harbor.
Would you believe that this is the view from Turtle..
right across to Granite Island.

A little walk found us at this creek entry just after dawn.

Last year, while on the York Penninsular , we had met Roly,
while fishing at Point Turton.
We gave him a look up as we knew this was his locality
and he very kindly drove us around for the day.
We had a great time with the Sand Highway out to the Mouth of the Murray!!

With his great local knowledge it was a very interesting drive.

Locals are Cockling here!

Mouth of the Mighty Murray.

Had to get my feet wet!!

Then the fishing stories started..
this is were Roly had caught a 72 lb Mulloway.
Nearly as big as himself..
and we have seen the pictures.

Onwards to the Goolwa Barrages,
these were built between 1935 and 1940.
This keeps the salt and fresh water apart..

These are the drop in Barrages.

The Lock in the middle allows the local traffic in and out.

After a lovely lunch in Goolwa, we headed for Hindmarsh Island.
Stephen and I had been here before but had got side swiped by
finding our first sighting of Cape Barren Geese...
so we never actually made it to the mouth of the Murray from this side before.
The view above is basically looking at were we had been standing earlier in the morning.

Same spot but looking up River

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
another dawn and Stephen had another go at the creek area.
Pretty specie shots.!!!

Dawn reflection..
check it out then turn it upside down..
this is the right way up...
for both of these!!!
