We arrived in Auckland and were picked up by Howard and Liz. Liz had booked us a weekend away...so the following morning we were off to the Coromandel Peninsula. There was so much to see and do.

The first one was at the Driving Creek Railway and Potteries that has been hand built by a potter who started by needing to get some clay down the hill. He built the first stage and then just kept going. This view is from the Eyefull Tower...get it!!!!!

All the way up and down you have pottery and sculptures and some of the retaining walls are made of wine bottles... obviously a man with a thirst!

The Coromandel Gold Stamper Battery was a fascinating 100 year old gold processing museum. The water wheel drives the battery.

Our tour guide was Ashley and such a character...the hour long tour was nearly 2 hours and very interesting.

The four of us hung around and chatted with much information being gleaned. Luckily we were the last tour of the day and certainly got our monies worth.

Ashley also showed us this Gold bearing rock from down in the harbour, the amount of gold in them there hills is phenomenal!
