On the way home

We left Denmark & were heading with D&A to Lake Towerrining.
The plan was to stop here for a coffee.
The best played plans of Mice & Men often go astray.
Nice  coffee & 15 bottles of wine later....
Expensive Coffee!!!

A superb sunset & a nice meal followed.

And this cool dude in the tree setting up for the night
just next to the van.

More morning rambles....
I'm sure it must be the birds dawn chorus that wakes me up!

Lake Towerrining is a water ski lake in the middle of sheep country..
They were shearing 4000 sheep.

Couldn't resist the texture of this dead tree.

In the area that water flows into the lake, away from the ski area
is a bird sanctuary..
Thousands of the little buggers.

The remnants of a good time..
By for now!

Hopefully the next entry will be
"The Trip"

The Rest or is it I need a rest!

I wonder if people ever get sick of my dawn wanderings?

I suppose it gives Alison time to sleep in!

It really is my favourite time of day...
These are the mouth of the Denmark River, where we stayed for 8 days.

This was a lovely old clinker boat moored up just opposite the Caravan Park.

An old railway cart in the railway siding, just loved the character of it,
and then the old railway bridge.

From there we went to the Boardwalk just east of town..
another Goblin Tree but sadly no water in the swamp!

Ever onwards to The Cosy Corner Cafe as D&A didn't want
to go out for lunch...
Below is the reason why!
Anthony's loves his cakes...
Death By Chocolate...
hmm!

From there onto Shelly Beach
so the photographers amongst us could play.

Me with my ultra wide zoom.

And then this guy came off the launch ramp & appeared to
scoot across the clouds.

On the way in Alison saw something we had to go back to
photograph...
An old motorhome that appeared to be held together with rust.

Then the two of us went back to
The Lake House...
purely for research purposes!

What a magnificent platter!!!!!!
All washed down with a cool SBS...
Now you may begin to understand the title!!

Life is Grand

In the afternoon it was off to Green Pool,
this is probably the most fabulous bit of water I've ever swam in..
Alison did 45 minutes of "hydro therapy"

The water was superb, and even had a lovely "sandy bottom"
One day I'll get sprung!!!

From there it was back for a shower & on to Helen & Kevin's for a return visit.
Once again thanks folks.

Lorraine, Kevin & Helen, Deb & Anthony, Alison.

The following day the photographers took off, for a walk!
I couldn't resist this leaf..

It's Valentines Day after all !!

A interesting tree....

Cruising the inlet..

Deborah emerging from one of her shoots!

We saw this sign...
We were on the Bibbulman Track at this point!

Views of Wilson Inlet

Pelicans taking off.

The other Photographer at work...

Couldn't resist this tree growing on a rock!!

Part 3 Coffee at The Lake House

Jenny & Alan, Anthony & I had been to The Lake House the day before,
So the four of us went back for Morning Coffee....
Hmmm...

A beaut garden setting!

Deb's doing close up with her new phone.

Richard this is up there with Bannister's Affogato!!!!!!
Merlot Espresso Syrup
YUMMO

We had a family of these beauties visit.

He really wanted to try Alison's Mud Cake...

More of the fabulous garden.

You can see why it's The Lake House.

Part 2 Denmark

The Caravan Park put on a free cruise,
so all six of us climbed aboard.

The weather wasn't the best but a lovely time was had by all,
some great scenery & a few photos to add to the collection.

Then off to Bev & Clive's for a fabulous meal.
Deborah with the latest addition to the family.
Dinky a 7 week old Tenterfield Terrier,
oh so cute!

L to R
Anthony, Jenny & Alan, Bev & Deborah,
Clive & Alison.
A great night thanks guys.

The next morning, Alan & I had a spectacularly unsuccessful 3 hours fishing,
but this more than made up for it.
A magnificent Osprey overlooking his domain.
Helps to have a pocket camera with a 30x's optical zoom!!!

Discovering Denmark 2015

After much ado with the hip operation, we eventually managed to leave
hot Perth and head South. We had had many discussions as to the way
to take to get to Denmark, but in the end the Bush Fires decided our course.

W travelled down the Albany Highway and had nearly 100k's of smoke
to contend with. This was from a fire out of Boddington.
Stephen had to get the windmill !

Just after Arthur River, we drove in clear air to the South West to Lake Towerinning.
In the evening we could see the glow of the bushfires below that smoke...

We had intended to stay a couple of days on the trip South
but unfortunately the Lake Towerinning camping
sites were fully booked for the weekend...
so we moved on...we may come back this way
as the bird life and the Lake are worth the trouble.

Stephen having fun with his camera.

Our local bird of interest...a Yellow Rumped Thornbill.

John Brown had told us about friends of his and Jenny's that lived in Denmark.
In fact we had a delivery to make to them from John.
Helen and Kevin very kindly offered for us to put
the Turtle in their back yard and enjoy their company for a couple of days...
On their back patio area was a pond....with multiple Frogs.

I even got a small window of opportunity to paint.
Looking at some of Helens earlier works it was surprising to see
how similar we were in styles...
maybe a joint exhibition!!!

Onwards to the Caravan Park on the Sunday...
catching up with Debs, Anthony, Alan and Jenny.
The Monday was Sis's birthday...
so we went to Willoughby's for wine tasting and lunch...
so full!!

Situated at the River Mouth Caravan Park there is lots to see in the Inlet.

Morning walks for Stephen bringing pictures for the blog.

An ancient Mellaluca, shades of Goblin Swamp!

On the Tuesday Stephen and I went to Albany to the Anzac Memorial Museum.
What an  amazing place...well worth the visit and a must do if in the area.

We did a small tour around all the other buildings.

With remarkable images...in fact information overload.

Posters from the Movies!

Stephen found a picture of the Ship that his Dad had been on..
"The Westralia"

Some amazing quotes...with overpowering stories and heroic accounts.

Outside some of the Hardware attached to the Fort.

As we have mentioned before, we are always staggered
as to how small our world is getting.
While visiting the Anzac Memorial Museum,
we came across two sets of friends.
Howard and Colleen,
and
Penny and Russell.

It's a small world isn't it!!!!
