Esperance

Beautiful Esperance, had been on our list when we were coming home, but with Stephen on the homeward mission it never happened. So we decided to go while down to see Rusty and Val. One of the first places that Stephen wanted to take me to was Lucky Bay...what a beauty. I have to say it is one of the most fantastic beaches we have seen
There is a beach drive you can do between Esperance and Cape Le Grand. We were driving along and saw a Sea Eagle with a bird in its mouth...stopped and went to take a picture but it disappeared into the sand dunes....so we dropped the tailgate and had lunch while we waited to see if it came back..no such luck..but a great spot anyway.
King Stephen the Arian sitting on his throne at Dalyup River Winery about 25 k's west of Esperance. They did an unusual wine here that we had not tried before. It was a blend of Riesling and Savignon Blanc...not bad fruity and then dry!
Heading home was a stop for the night at Wave Rock. There is a well organised and well laid out Caravan Park at the base of the rock which means that you can do a nice evening or early morning walk on the Wave Rock. We actually did this in the evening and then went to Mulkas Cave the following morning.
Here we saw the cave of the many hand prints. This is one of the largest collections of hand prints in WA. We had the place to ourselves and on the walk that I did, I saw another 4 birds for my book, just about got flattened by the passing Roos and the track was not that clear, so I am not sure if it is very well frequented, which is a shame because it was well worth the effort to go and see.. Anyway onwards and upwards...we hope to go away again in May..so watch this Blog for the ongoing adventures of Toby and Turtle.

Back By Popular Demand.

We have been home now for a few months and during that time we were repeatedly asked when are we going to do more of the Blog....well we went to Hopetoun and Esperance for a couple of weeks. Although this was over a month ago I have eventually managed to found time to start it up again!!!!!While in Etty Bay we had met Rusty and Val...if you look back they were actually in Peronella Park with us...they made the fatal mistake of inviting us if we were ever in the Hopetoun area.
We had a lovely few days with them and Rusty took Stephen to do some Abalone searching. The waves were incredible that day and after many attempts with the old digital delay I managed to get a few good shots.
Rusty also took us for a drive into Fizgerald National Park. Even in February there were many wild flowers to look at along with the views. Rusty told us that there were many more in late September along with the whales...so we have asked if we could come back again!
The remains on a whale jaw on one of the secluded beaches on this fabulous piece of coast.
While here there was Wings and Wheels on at the Airport. Although a very hot and windy weekend we were impressed with the selection of cars, bike and planes. If you are looking in Karl, this picture was for you.

We moved on to Esperance after a lovely few days. Thanks again Rusty and Val.
